The d’Entremont family has established a scholarship fund in memory of their son, Joseph Paul d’Entremont III who died suddenly on September 17th, 2010 Joey was a 9th grade student at Fallston High School in the Maryland public school system. Joey played football, baseball, lacrosse, piano, drums, and was a singer. He was a brother to Jordan, Jarrett, Tyler, Wyatt and Zack. Joey was a best friend to many and was known for his great huggs.  We had many great days with our Joey, just not enough years.

Joey’s leaving has left a huge void and in his memory we plan to raise funds over the next three years in order to affect the lives of some deserving students in the graduating class of 2014 The students selected will best manifest the characteristics that were embodied in our Joey. The recipients will be students who:
  • Engages everyone, so that no one is ever excluded from a group or activity;
  • Enjoys competition of play, whether it be on the football or baseball fields, soccer and basketball,
    chess or the debate team.
  • Joey was a competitor and these endearing qualities are what we hope to find.
  • Enjoys and shows a real interest in learning, manifested both academically and outside of school.
  • Possesses a sense of humor, and can enjoy a laugh at his or her own expense
  • Cares passionately about issues of fairness and deeply for family and friends.
  • Must love music and know at least one of Joey’s songs by heart.
Most importantly, each recipient will have to have been involved in the scholarship fund raising efforts at some point during these coming three years. The scholarship award may be used by the recipients for the student’s tuition, room and board or costs and expenses related to travel to and from school and/or the purchase of school supplies, books and/or a computer.
As the fund comes close to its award, we’ll be asking students to submit an application with an attached essay explaining their eligibility. Over the course of the next few years, board member will be deciding how many students will be awarded scholarships.
